During the sunset years of my life, I want to just thank the Lord and praise Him for all He has always done for me. In this album, I want to share my testimony of how the Lord led and guided me in the beginning years of my Chrisian life that helped prepare me for my future. I hope hearing my story will help you have faith that God will also be with you if you put your trust in Him as shown in the following Bible Verses.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
After being saved in 1957 at the age of 17, I wanted desperately to find God’s will for my life. I had 3 very important questions that I prayed God would answer.
- What would I do about military service since the draft was certain at that time? Being the 8th of 10 children, 7 of whom were girls, my dad would not allow guns in the home, so I had no experience with weapons to make me feel ready for the military.
- Would the Lord help me choose the best career choice for my life?
- Would the Lord help me find the wife he was preparing for me?
As you listen to my testimony, you will see how God eventually answered all of these prayers beginning by leading me to volunteer for 4 years in the Air Force. After Basic Training, He placed me in a top-secret position in Samsung, Turkey where no guns were allowed. After this, I was chosen to be an instructor at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, training more airmen to do the same job I had done in Turkey. Being a military instructor paved the way for my career as a High School Business teacher. It was at this school that I met my sweetheart and then all 3 of my prayers were answered. It was amazing to see the Lord’s hand in how one thing led to the next as He answered my prayers. That is why the song “His Hand in Mine” is so special to me. It was also amazing to see that the Lord had caused my greatest fear, the military service, to be the most special 4 years of my life up until that point. Throughout my life, I have continued to see “His Hand in Mine” as the Lord has led me “Through It All” as I encountered all kinds of different situations.
I hope all Christians will share their testimonies and tell what the Lord has done for them in order to encourage others to have more faith in God and to help those who do not know God to believe in Him and be saved.
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
